Another day, another functional prototype! I recently switch from a Mac Studio to a Macbook Pro so I could be more mobile, work from coffee shops, or something like that. With that change, my desk was cluttered again.
After sorting out ports so I could get power to my laptop along with periphial devices, and send signal to my dual monitor setup, all with two USB-C/Thunderbolt cables, I set to design a slide in holder design.
I printed this with Bambulab ABS with Glass Fiber on a Bambulab X1C and secured the parts together using brass M4 threaded inserts and M4 allen screws and washers from amazon.
All-in-all, it works as I want with the only execption being that it requires carefuk handling to place the laptop in the cradle to avoid coillision with the laptop feet. Rev 2 will have a smaller tab on the outside as I think there will still be plenty of support and I will still have enough material to leverage the laptop feet to prevent it from sliding out either end.
Would I use this on an aircraft carrier at sea? Probably not... but its holding up to the sit-stand cycle of a work day and taking it out to go play drums.
