Subaru GD/GG Impreza WRX/STI Clock Gauge Mod: Part 1

For a while now I have been obsessesing over the STi GeNOME Gauge Pack that was available for the 2002-2007 Imprezas. They match my exhaust and my dash cluster but they are expensive and I am not in love with the common DEFI/ATI 3 gauge housing.

After lots of research (might post about different housing options) I started to think more about how to customize it with exactly what I wanted while retaining stock look. In came an idea to cut the back out of my dash clock and install a screen to display log data as a legible gauge cluster.

I will be posting a lot more on this in the coming weeks as I put together all the pieces but currently I am using:

  • Raspberry Pi 4
  • Waveshare 7.9" 1280x400px IPS LED Display
  • Analog to Digital RPi board
  • A custom Vue.js app to read and display data in gauges
  • Some 3D printed brackets

The style right now is very basic and meant to keep with the theme of the DEFI GeNOME gauges but I hope to be able to achieve:

  • 9-12 gauges (banks of 3)
  • Swipe to change bank of gauges
  • Touch gauge to reveal last 5 minutes of data (line charts/or whatever else is useful)
  • Read data from RomRaider (if I go this route for the car's tune) or another OBD2 reader and augment with other sensor data using an analog to digital converter
  • And/or integrate with carberry.

If there are some other options for this that allow as much customization as I want, please let me know, or if you have any resources to share, please do!
