Introducing: Cheddar.Fish
I built this interactive tier-board focused entirely on delicious cheesy crackers because I have a bit of a cracker addiction.
The idea originated back in 2021/2022 during the Covid pandemic. I went a little overboard and purchased every flavor of Goldfish cracker I could find in the area and started making rather in-depth reviews. My goal was to make a satirical review site that was part Cooks Illustrated, part Rtings and I quickly realized I did not have the time to finish this with a full-time job. It was a silly idea.
Cut to Friday of last week where I came home with the limited edition Spicy Dill Pickle Goldfish Crackers. I knew these were S-Tier. I knew I had to revive the idea. I knew I had other important things to do so needed to spend minimal time on this project.
Using the excuse of "portfolio" and "learning Vercel," I worked on this on Saturday and was able to complete it rather quickly. I leaned on my favorite prototyping stack: Vue 3, Nuxt 3 with Typescript, and Tailwindcss. I have also recently started using GSAP and was able to leverage it for the lift effect when selecting a review.
The site features all your favorite Goldfish crackers plus a few off-brands. It has string search, category filtering, and a single item view.
In the future I have a few UI/UX experiments I want to try and hopefully give you a way to tell me how wrong I am and submit your own tier board. I also plan on updating the routing so you can share invidual reviews or filters.
Thanks for checking out the post and I hope you enjoy!
